Project overview

Integrated clean-energy infrastructure.

LiGEP is a large-scale renewable-energy development initiative intended to support Libya’s long-term energy transition and industrial development objectives.

The project is being advanced as a phased platform: utility-scale solar generation first, followed by green hydrogen and green ammonia subject to technical feasibility, financing and long-term commercial demand.

Development roadmap

The current roadmap reflects the June 2026 investor memorandum and remains subject to permitting, financing, contracting, technical studies and final approvals.

Site finalisation, environmental studies, grid agreements, FEED studies and regulatory approvals.

Financing & early works

Financial close, EPC selection, procurement planning, site infrastructure and mobilisation.

Solar construction

800 MWp installation, grid connection, testing and commissioning, with first power targeted for end-2028.

2029+

Hydrogen & ammonia

Green hydrogen production followed by green ammonia storage and export infrastructure.

Strategic location

Two sites. One integrated platform.

LiGEP comprises two government-assigned sites near Ajdabiya, each approximately 300 hectares and planned for 400 MWp. The inland site is located near GECoL 400/220 kV transmission infrastructure; the coastal site supports future hydrogen, ammonia and export development.
